Here at Aviation and binoculars we try to keep our stock of products for sale as interesting and varied as possible. Over the last year we have embarked on an project to pay homage to a more positive aspect of the 1930’s German regime in the form of a renovation of a VW Beetle or Hitlers Peoples car as it was know in its early days.

• Hitler’s Initiative:
  Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany, championed the idea of a small, affordable “people’s car” to be mass-produced. He believed this would boost the German economy and appeal to the public.
  
• Porsche’s Role:
  Ferdinand Porsche, a German engineer, developed the Beetle based on Hitler’s vision. Porsche needed political backing to get the project off the ground, while Hitler needed a skilled engineer to create the car
  

We sought as early example as it was practicable to find and tried to finish it in a wartime green.

In hindsight and as all classic car owners will testify the project took on a life of its own. Whilst never skimping on quality or authenticity we definitely overspent….. this makes this a bargain for anybody that wants a super cool iconic car finished to the highest spec. We have for sale a fully restored matching numbers UK RHD 1966 VW Beetle. This classic beetle was purchased a year ago and has had in excess of 30k work completed on it (full receipts available) to make it a stunning custom finish.

It was only completed April 2025 so is mint, new conditions for all parts, respray, upholstery etc

Year: December 1966 ( 1967 model year )

Colour: Satin Bronze Green

Engine: 1500cc, Powder coated tinware, new clutch, generator etc etc

Electrics: Original 12 volt

Wheels: 5off 15” Fumagalli steel ( 4.5” front, 5.5” rear) new Continental tyres.

Recent full body off pan restoration. Floorpan finished in 2K gloss black with front disc brake conversion and new parts throughout. Including Limebug rear adjustable 2” dropped spring plates, front dropped spindles on 2” narrow Avis adjustable front beam.

Interior features new headliner and trim, seats refinished in Westfalia green plaid.
