Aviation and Binoculars is proud to present a WW1 Pontoon Mark II (The Clauson Pontoon) Royal Engineers scale model. These were during the First World War and were the essential bridging equipment to allow fast troop movements over rivers etc. The craftsman ship is excellent down to the smallest detail.
They were built by the British Army Corps of Royal Engineers, usually referred to as the Royal Engineers (RE). The model was purchased at the Royal Chatham docks just down the road from the Garrison HQ in Kent.
The pontoon was versatile in its application and use and could be used to transport men and equipment as well as bridge building. The scale model consists of two parts, this would make a great display piece, teaching aid or reenactors table display at military shows. It is in its original colour and a very nice military collectible.
Here at Aviation and Binoculars we pride ourselves on having one of the widest selection of historically interesting artefacts available to purchase. Check out the full range of military collectables including a Submarine Torpedo firing display and an MP40 machine pistol displayed on a Tiger 4 Tank Track.
