WW2 D Day Smith and Wesson 

Aviation and binoculars presents a WW2 D Day Smith and Wesson battlefield relic pistol recovered from Saint Lo Normandy.

The Smith and Wesson .38 victory pistol was used throughout the war, this battlefield recovered relic must have an incredible story to tell. It is a genuine battlefield recovered weapon from the Saint Lo region of Normandy France, this being the site of the Battle of Saint-Lô between United States and German forces. It was one of the three conflicts in the battle of the hedgerows which took place between July 7 and 19, 1944 a month after the D Day landings started.

This pistol was recovered and on examination appears to have been flattened in the conflict, although we are unable to be certain this is damage likely caused by being crushed by a tank or similar vehicle. On closer examination it appears that there are no rounds chambered.

We have given it a sympathetic clean to remove the rust and dirt whilst still retaining its original patina. This is a great display piece with an interesting history and story to tell.
