Rotary Club – Forest of Blean
Aviation and Binoculars was pleased to be invited to give a presentation to the Rotary Club based in Canterbury Kent. The invite to give a presentation came from an old customer who still had his Republic P47 Thunderbolt propeller (with full history) that he has displayed in his house front hallway. It’s fair to say the evening did not disappoint! The Rotary club draws it members from across all walks of life and over its 110 year history has raised millions for sustainable global projects as well as providing local support in terms of time and money for charities in the Canterbury area.
To complement the World War Two Thunderbolt propeller we decided to take along a few choice historical items from our Aviation Furniture, Military Collectables and Ejections seats including:
– [ ] Two sets of WW2 German Flakglas binoculars – with 10×80 and 12×60 magnifications
– [ ] The unique WW1 Passchendaele Lee Enfield Short Magazine Rifle
– [ ] German Second World War MP40 machine pistol
– [ ] RAF Mk 1 aviators bone dome (helmet)
All we can say is thank goodness we did!
After a very pleasant meal the talk went extremely well and was very well received.
The knowledge and enthusiasm from the club members was second to none and it soon became clear that with a retired Brigadier Colonel and ex RAF Canberra Navigator (to name but two members) there was a lot of knowledge in the room. It was fascinating to hear first hand conversations and observations from people that had actually used some of these items, a real pleasure and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
All of the items listed above are on the website with each containing more information and history. We also regularly update on YouTube where we show case new products on a regular basis. Please view and subscribe if interested.
Contact Aviation and Binoculars where we are pleased to discuss corporate or designer events with a number of our products being available for hire.
Keep up the good work to all Rotary Club members and a heart felt thanks from Aviation and Binoculars.
