British WW2 Military

Aviation and binoculars are pleased to present this British WW2 military 3 inch mortar model. It is an exceptionally detailed metal model standard British issue mortar.

The Ordnance ML 3-inch mortar was the used by the British Army from the early 1930s to the late 1960s, superseding the Stokes model. It was reliable and simple to use, it come in three transportable man-back packs: an all-round base plate, a bipod and a smooth core tube. It was initially handicapped by its short range compared to allied and enemy mortars however, with propellant improvements it became the go to mortar for British and commonwealth armies.

During the second world war the 81.2 mm mortar was used by British troops on all battlefields of the Second World War and especially during the Normandy campaign.

We were impressed by the detailing on this scale metal model so had to add it to our military collectables. It is a lovely display piece
