United States Air Force Flying Fortress Browning Machine Gun

Aviation and binoculars is proud to present a unique piece of history. Our Military Collectables range includes this United States Air Force Flying Fortress Browning Machine Gun. This is a 50 cal browning machine gun recovered from the Scottish Isle of Arran. It is from a B17G 42-97286 Flying Fortress named SKIPPER ‘N THE KIDS.

This aircraft first entered the European theatre of war on the 15th February 1944, it served with the 388th Bomber Group -560th Bomb squadron. Regarded as a ‘lucky’ aircraft it flew over 60 missions including several Berlin raids. It was reported missing on the 10th December 1944 when it lost its way in poor weather, and crash landed on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. Some reports have it that it was on a whiskey run to stock up the base. The aircraft was salvaged on March 1945 with the Browning  50 cal machine gun being recovered some later, making this a true military collectible that makes a stunning man cave or home or office talking point.

To best display the Browning machine gun it has been mounted on a bespoke stand with an original Flying Fortress ammo belt on the base. The 50 cal cartridge belt is an antique collectible  and is included for display purposes.

The whole piece has a height of 95 cm and a width of 110 cm.

This is a great display item and demonstrates the power of the United States working with Great Britain in its darkest hours.
