Aviation and Binoculars presents a Lockheed F-104 G Starfighter ejection seat made by Lockheed, Burbank California. The iconic Starfighter is an American single-engine, super sonic interceptor and was extensively used as a fighter bomber during the Cold War period. It was developed in response to the performance of the MiG 15 fighters that had stunned the aeronautical world in Korea. It was capable of reaching Mach 2 speeds whilst being sturdy enough to weather any storm. During its front line service 2,578 of these single seat fighter jets were produced making this seat increasingly rare to find.

It was first produced in 1958 with the Starfighter ruling the skies until being retired in 1969.

This is a genuine piece of history, the United States Air Force (USAF) Lockheed Starfighter ejection seat has been professionally stripped and finished in chrome before being mounted finished on a bespoke base. The upholstery is the finest quality brown leather making this a practical man cave or home/office seat as  well as being visually stunning.

Ejection seats have a long post WW2 history and have been directly attributed with saving over 7,600 lives. This seat is a great display item and demonstrates the power of the United States Air Force. Its shares many similarities with the more widely known Martin Baker Ejection Seat company based in Buckinghamshire, England.
